Sticky Slime
Kids of all ages LOVE slime. There’s just something magical about the ooey, gooey, oozy texture that captures the attention of children of all ages.
I recently started making this 2 ingredient slime with my daughter, and I think I might even love it more than her! It’s easy and cheap and my favourite part - contains NO glue or glitter! Here’s the recipe for you to try it out at home.
What you’ll need:
1 cup of corn flour
8 tablespoons of dish soap or shampoo
Optional: 2-3 tablespoons water, food dye
What to do:
Add the corn flour into a bowl
Pour in dish soap or shampoo
Use a spoon or fork to mix the two ingredients together. Once combined, use your hands to kneed the mixture into a smooth, slimy consistency. That’s it!
Depending on the thickness of the soap or shampoo you use, you may need to add a small amount of water to get the consistency you’d like. Try adding 1 tablespoon at a time so it doesn’t become too runny. I have made this several times now, and find the consistency varies slightly each time but is always just as fun to squish, squash and mould. The runnier the mixture, the stickier it will be. If you like you can add a drop of food dye to make it extra exciting.
This activity is suitable for all ages! Of course full supervision is required to avoid the mixture ending up in the mouths/eyes of extra little people (even my 4yo tried to have a taste test!). If you or your child has skin sensitivities, be mindful of the soap/shampoo you choose.
Tip: if you’re worried about the mess.. and it IS messy, but that’s half the fun.. set this up in the bath tub or outside. Once the ooey, gooey, oozy fun has been had, simply rinse or hose away the evidence.
